Fine Motor Activities for Early Years

Fine motor activities encourage children to use the small muscles in their hands and fingers while developing coordination and control. Everyday activities such as threading, cutting, drawing, building and manipulating objects can provide opportunities to practise these skills through play.

Use fine motor resources for individual activities, small-group sessions or as part of continuous provision. Activities can be adapted to suit different ages, abilities and levels of development.
