Classroom Displays are essential no matter the size of your setting. They can be a great way to add colour, explore aspects of the EYFS curriculum or showcase children’s work. In this blog we share 5 simple classroom display ideas for early years, from seasonal exploration to PSHE and wellbeing that you can recreate in your setting this September! Ranging from large wall displays to smaller and more simple corner setups, there is something for every setting in this blog!

1. Autumn Investigation Display

Encourage children to investigate the new season by displaying a variety of seasonal objects. By adding items like dried leaves, flowers, soft toys and hessian, children will be able to interact and learn more about seasonal colours and seasons change. Encourage communication and language skills by getting your little ones to describe the colours, textures, and items that have been used to represent the season.

2. Book Nook

A reading corner or "book nook" is always a great option to have in your early years' setting. Having books and reading material on display and easily accessible is vital to encourage children to not only want to read but feel inspired to do so.

This little set up provides an adaptable quiet space for children to sit and explore their favourite books and characters.

3. Numicon City Display

Encourage children to explore Counting by displaying Maths resources like Numicon and number cubes in a "Cityscape" formation on display! This is great for the more visual learners and can be used as an interactive display whereby children count how tall each different tower is, using the numicon pieces.

Adding a designated space for children to work beneath the display means that children can consolidate their learning.

4. Outer Space themed

This particular display is a great way to catch children's eyes and get them interested in a topic. It is also a great display to use in any size setting and isnt convined to one wall, you can hang the planets throughout your setting or in a particular themed zone.

Why not encourage your children to make the planets to encourage further discussion into this key EYFS topic? You will end up with a display that is out of this world!

5. The Worry Monster

Whether this is their first experience of school or not, starting the new school term in September can prompt a lot of new emotions that children may struggle to express or deal with. The idea behind this display is to give children a place to go and feel safe to express their feelings. The addition of a "worry monster" allows children to write down their worries and feed them to the monster, removing any pressure of having to explain themselves to adults or teachers. This means that you can then check these periodically to ensure that children are safe and their worries are being resolved!
