FAQ’s about baby rooms and furniture
How should I set up my baby's room?
There are many different ways you can set up a baby's room, however, there are some best practices you should know about. These include…..
Simple design - keep the design of the room simple to avoid overstimulation.
Keep room temperature equal
Have block-out blinds on windows - this will create a completely dark environment for both daytime and night time sleep.
Avoid hanging mobiles - this can overstimulate your baby, or even worse fall on them whilst they are asleep.
Incorporate white noise - white noise can be used to drown out sounds that may cause them to wake up.
Make use of baby blankets and swaddles - these will allow your baby to feel safe and comforted as they go to sleep. Also prevents their startle reflex from waking them up.
Choose non-toxic paints and furniture - opt for non-toxic materials and furniture for child safety.
Choose efficient storage - make use of dressers, shelves and bins to organise clothes and other baby essentials.
Can a crib be against a wall?
Ideally, your crib should be at least 30cm away from a wall and at least 60cm away from heaters, windows, vents and window blind cords. There should also be enough space around the crib to allow for easy access for picking them up, changing bedding and cleaning.
What age do cot beds go up to?
Cot beds are designed to grow with your child, and will typically cater to children from birth up to the ages of 4-5 years old.
