Rainbow Sparklers
This DIY craft is not only easy and cheap but will bring a burst of colour to your setting. Your little ones are guaranteed to love the vibrant rainbow colours and you can rest assured that these are safe and wont burn out like the traditional alternatives!
You will need:
How to:
- Taking a sheet of cellophane, fold it in half and cut up towards the fold leaving about 1.5 cm near the top (be sure to supervise little ones at all time)
- Repeat this with as many sheets of cellophane as you would like in as many colours as you choose
- The wrap the strip of cellophane around a pencil or twig and secure into place with sticky tape
- Be sure to stick the end that you haven't cut
- Layer multiple sheets on top of one another until you have the desired effect
- Make sure the cut sections are fanned out so they look like a sparkler when shaken!

Water Fireworks in a Jar
Made using basic kitchen ingredients, these water fireworks are sure to bring an explosion - of colour! A great way for children to explore a science and colour whilst celebrating Bonfire Night.
You will need:
- A jar or clear glass vessel
- Water
- Vegetable oil
- Food Colouring (we used red and green)
To make your Water Fireworks:
- Start by filling your clear jar or jug with water
- Then in separate cups combine a glug of oil with a few drops of food colouring
- Mix your oil mixtures together
- Then pour your oil and colouring mixtures into your jar of water
- The mixture will stay on the surface at first but then watch as the oil disperses through the water creating what looks like fireworks!

DIY Firework Craft
You will need:
To make your fireworks:
- Start by carefully cutting a rectangle from your black card and rolling it up into a tube. Secure in place with some tape.
- Next, stuff some of your shredded tissue paper into the tube to act as the firework explosion.
- Then take your glittery pipe cleaners and twist them to create wonderful swirly patterns. Stick a few of these pipe cleaners into the tube with the shredded tissue paper - why not mix random colours together?
- Finally - stick some gems or glitter to the black card to add a bit more sparkle and there you have a firework!
- Repeat this process as many times as you wish with different size and shape fireworks until you have a spectacular colourful display!
- Gather together the pipe cleaners, foil and tissue paper into a bunch and push them into a tube. Fan them out and add star stickers to finish.
