Anyone for Tennis?

Although we cannot provide the strawberries and cream, nor make the sun shine on centre court, we at EYR have been following Wimbledon and the more active among us have even been inspired to pick up a racquet! If we had started younger who knows what we could have achieved? Tennis is a great way to keep children active and develop hand eye co-ordination and ball skills. Look in our Active Play range for a variety of early sports equipment, including mini rackets, mini foam tennis balls and plastic tennis sets. Who knows,... Read More

Olympic Countdown

Well, we’re finally on countdown to the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games. At EYR we were very excited as the Olympic torch travelled within a whisker of us! It really brought home how soon this magnificent spectacle will be unfolding before our eyes, and how schools, nurseries and Early Years settings will be celebrating with their own sports days, fun days and summer celebrations. It’s not too late to order from our Olympics and Active Play sections, or Summer Brochures. All orders will be dispatched within 48 working... Read More

Superheroes save the day!

At Early Years Resources, we have been thinking about how versatile the topic of Superheroes is, and how it excites and inspires children of all ages. The topic can cover many aspects of the curriculum, whether in the Foundation Stage or in KS1. Here are a few examples of our ideas: Creative Development / Art – decorating Superhero outfits, painting Superhero scenarios Creative Development / Music – making a Superhero theme tune or sound effects, listening to Superhero music and thinking about the scenarios that the music conjures up and... A magical numeracy game!

I have been recently been using the Magic Cauldron Game with some Key Stage One intervention groups and they have loved it! Its simple rules make it easy for all children to follow and it provides plenty of practise at simple mental calculations. The children really appreciated being able to check their own answers too, and the magical appearance of those answers (simply by rubbing the heat sensitive patches on the back of the cards) never failed to excite them. By covering the addition of two or three numbers, simple... Read More

Tandem Trike 21/03/2012

Trike Trials

A  local school’s Nursery and Reception classes have been trialling the Italtrike Pilot Tandem Trike and Italtrike Pilot Large Trike. Both were a huge hit with children and adults. The staff and parents were really impressed with the innovative, looped handle bars and seat backs, which they thought were a great safety feature, and the solid, robust build, which should withstand the elements and high volume use. The children thought both trikes were great and long queues formed to have a go. The two seater tandem trike was especially popular, it... Read More

EYR Tactile Cushion Pack 14/03/2012

Praise indeed for our First Years ‘explore and investigate’ products

Our First Years products were recently applauded at a new ‘play and explore’ session for mums and young children. Favourites for the youngest children were the EYR Tactile Cushion Pack and the Boing Proballs. The babies were thrilled with the tactile cushions, as they investigated the variety of textures or used them to cuddle, just like a favourite comforter. Also popular were the Boing Proballs which were the perfect size for little hands and amazed the children when they lit up and changed colour. The toddlers and pre schoolers were... Read More
