Instructions for your Fish Collage:

Step 1: Cut a piece of corrugated card (22cm x 30cm). Stick masking tape around the card to neaten the edges then paint with a background colour. Leave to dry. Lightly brush white paint or another colour over the top to highlight the texture of the corrugated card. Leave to dry.

Step 2: Trim some thin sticks into pieces measuring from 2cm to 10cm long, with different sizes in between.

Step 3: Draw a fish shape onto the background as a guide for positioning the sticks. Spread plenty of glue over the fish, leave to dry for few minutes until the glue starts to get tacky, then arrange the sticks to cover the fish so they are close together. Leave to dry.

Step 4: Choose some thin sticks for making a border and glue them around the edge of the background.

Step 5: Add blobs of glue onto the background then press coiled string over the top for bubbles. Press the string with your finger to hold it in place.

Step 6: Cut a small card circle, then glue it onto the fish for an eye. Glue some string around the eyes and a bead or button in the middle.

Step 7:Glue some shells to decorate the border. For some shells it may be easier to glue some tissue paper inside to fill the middle and increase the surface area, then glue onto the background. Leave to dry.

Hints and Tips: For younger children, cut the sticks into small pieces before you start so they are ready to use.
