Make Your Own Haunted House – Halloween Crafts
Get imaginations running riot and create a magnificent haunted house out of spare boxes and coloured card.
Art materials you will need:
- Cardboard boxes in different sizes
- A juice carton
- Black paint
- Black, orange & yellow card
- Glue and scissors
- Black pencil/pen
- White tissue paper
STEP 1: Glue 2 or 3 different sized boxes together and leave to dry. The top part of a juice carton makes a good top section for the house.
STEP 2: Paint the boxes black and leave to dry. Add a second coat if you need to.
STEP 3: Cut out a glowing door and the window shapes from bright coloured card. Glue thin strips onto the windows, or use a black marker pen to make window panes.
TIP: To make the lines on the shutters, try dipping a small strip of card into paint then carefully printing the slats.
STEP 4: Glue the door and windows onto the house. Cut window shutters from black card and fold a strip down the side of each one so they can be glued onto the house.
STEP 5: Cut some tissue paper circles approx. 15cm in diameter for the ghosts. Draw the eyes and a mouth with a pencil or felt pen. Fold the tissue paper around your finger to make the ghost shape then stick it onto the house with a small blob of glue.
TIP: The tissue paper shapes for the ghosts don’t need to be precise. Try tearing the edges for a ragged look.
