5 Easter Craft Activities for Children

This year, Easter Sunday falls on March 27th 2016, and it’s a great time of year for children to get involved in some fun, yet simple Easter craft activities. Symbols of the season include eggs, bunnies and baby chicks so use these with the soft pastel colours popular at this time of year, to create some fantastic art and craft projects in your early years setting.

Easter Art and Craft Ideas

Decorate an Easter Egg

Easter egg decorating is a popular classroom activity that allows early years children to use their imaginations and get creative. Plain eggs can be decorated with brightly coloured paints and a whole host of interesting embellishments.

Make an Easter Chick Box

Our Easter chick boxes are supplied in packs of 30 and are easy to fold into shape and assemble. Children can decorate them any way they choose, and as an added bonus, chick boxes can be filled with little treats.

Make an Easter Card

Children love taking gifts home and a handmade Easter card is a great way to let them get creative. Children can have fun with their designs whilst learning the importance of giving.

Create an Easter Picture

The Early Years Resources downloads section contains a choice of free Easter printables which include pictures of eggs, bunnies and Easter messages. Simply print off the images and let children colour them in and use collage materials to create beautiful, bright pictures which can be given as gifts or used in a classroom display.

Decorate an Easter Basket

Decorating an Easter basket is a traditional activity that children in their early years can enjoy. Papier Mache baskets can be brightly coloured and adorned with sticky jewels, felt shapes and tissue paper flowers, before filling with yellow shredded paper and various Easter treats.

These simple Easter craft activities are perfect for any early years setting.  Children will enjoy taking part with their classmates whilst learning fun new art and craft techniques.
